Trust Starts With Alignment

Good communication is about more than getting the message out.

It’s about making sure the right people understand where you’re going - and know how to move with you.

That’s the idea behind Herd Alignment.

I’m Madison Quamme, a strategic communications consultant with 12 years of experience helping organizations navigate reputation, change, complex issues and the moments when communication matters most.

I’ve worked on everything from crisis communications and media relations to executive communications, messaging and reputation strategy. I’ve seen what happens when organizations communicate with clarity, and what happens when they don’t.

The difference is rarely a lack of information.

It’s alignment.

When leaders are saying different things, employees aren’t sure what matters, or an organization’s public story doesn’t match its actual work, people notice. Trust starts to erode. And once a reputation is under pressure, it’s much harder to build than it was to protect in the first place.

That’s where I come in.

Communications that move organizations forward

Herd Alignment is built for organizations that don’t necessarily need a full-time communications department, but do need senior-level thinking, a steady strategic partner and someone who knows what to do when the stakes get high.

I work with leaders on the things that can’t always be solved with another social post or press release:

What should we say?
How should we say it?
What will people hear?
What happens if they don’t?
And how do we make sure everyone is moving in the same direction?

My work centers on trust and reputation, because those are the things underneath nearly every important communication challenge.

Sometimes that means sharpening a message.

Sometimes it means preparing a leader for a difficult conversation.

Sometimes it means building a crisis plan before there’s a crisis.

And sometimes it means stepping back and asking a more fundamental question: Are we actually communicating what we want people to believe about us?

Why “Herd Alignment”?

I’ve always liked the way a herd works.

A herd doesn’t move because every animal is doing exactly the same thing. It moves because there is enough awareness, direction and trust to move together.

Organizations are the same way.

You don’t need everyone to think alike. You need people to understand the direction, know their role and trust the path forward.

That’s alignment.

And when an organization is aligned, communication gets clearer, decisions get easier and reputation gets stronger.

That’s what I want Herd Alignment to help organizations do.

Move as one.

Not louder.

Not more often.

Just more intentionally.

A little about me

I’m an APR-certified public relations professional who has spent my career close to the work: advising leaders, managing high-pressure communications, translating complicated issues and helping organizations find the right words when the right words matter.

I’m also a big believer that good communication should make complicated things feel simpler.

Herd Alignment is intentionally small.

I’m not building an agency with dozens of people and layers of account management. I’m building a consultancy where clients get direct access to an experienced communications strategist who can understand the bigger picture, ask the uncomfortable questions and help turn strategy into action.

If your organization is growing, changing, facing a challenge - or simply ready to be more intentional about its reputation - I’d love to talk.

Let’s move as one.
